The Weinstein Company has acquired North American rights to Miss Potter from Phoenix Pictures and David Kirschner Productions, says The Hollywood Reporter. The Beatrix Potter biopic, which is in production in the U.K., stars Ren¨¦e Zellweger, Ewan McGregor and Emily Watson and is being directed by Chris Noonan. Kirschner Productions’ David Kirschner and Corey Sienega produce alongside Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer and David Thwaites of Phoenix Pictures. Zellweger will serve as executive producer. Miss Potter explores the life of the author of such beloved children’s books as “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” and her struggle for independence in Victorian England. 30/01/06 Watson Joins Miss Potter
Emily Watson has joined Ren¨¦e Zellweger and Ewan McGregor in the cast of Chris Noonan’s Miss Potter, says Production Weekly. The biopic of UK children’s author Beatrix Potter is scheduled to start shooting in the UK and the Isle of Man in March. Watson will play Millie, the sister of McGregor’s character, Norman Warne, Potter’s publisher and lover.

Renee Zellweger is set to join Phoenix Pictures biopic about Beatrix Potter Miss Potter, says Variety. The feature, helmed by Chris Noonan, explores the life of the author of such beloved children’s books as “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” and her struggle for independence in Victorian England. The live-action movie will have some animated elements. Ewan McGregor is also in talks to play Norman, Potter’s publisher and love interest. Shooting is slated to begin on location in the U.K. in March.
