Renee Zellweger Lists Connecticut Farmhouse

While many celebrities head to Malibu for vacation homes and away from the bright lights of Hollywood, others flee to more rural areas for respite.

Renee Zellweger chose Connecticut for a vacation spot, picking up a pastoral estate in November 2004 for $1.32 million.

The blonde starlet recently listed the home for sale on the Pomfret Center real estate market for $1.5 million. According to Real Estalker, Zellweger’s Connecticut home isn’t the only Northeast estate she owns. She also has a place in the New York beach getaway, the Hamptons, which she purchased in 2003.

Although an A-List actress with more than a handful of acting awards under her belt, as well as a slew of roles in critically-acclaimed movies like “Jerry Maguire,” “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” “Chicago” and “ Cold Mountain,” Zellweger is a private and low-profile celebrity.

Her desire for privacy is reflected in 39-acre estate in rural northeast Connecticut. Although the place is only 3.5 hours from New York city, the property also has a helicopter landing area for those who prefer a more discreet way of travel.

The sprawling farmhouse was extensively updated by Zellweger in the seven years she owned the property, although the work was done in such a way to maintain the charm of the 1770′s-era home.

Zellweger’s home features 4,287 square feet with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 4 fireplaces and dark wood-beamed ceilings and hardwood floors. The grounds have also been extensively landscaped, with varying levels of terraces, gardens and stone walls. Included on the property are a guest house with its own kitchenette, as well as an antique barn and entertainment pavilion.

The listing is held by Jonathan Radford of Coldwell Banker.

According to Zillow‘s mortgage calculator, a monthly payment on Zellweger’s home would be $5,579, assuming a 20 percent down payment on a 30-year-mortgage.

Renee Zellweger, Lifetime Team for Hollywood Period Drama

Lifetime is taking a few pages out of Renee Zellweger’s diary.

The female-skewing cable network has picked up Cinnamon Girl, a 1960s drama loosely based on Zellweger’s journey from small-town Texas to Hollywood.

Created by Zellweger and Anthony Tambakis (Warrior), Cinnamon Girl will revolve around four girls as they come of age during the cultural revolution of the late 1960s and early 1970s in Los Angeles. The drama will explore Cassie, Lola, Penny and Lou’s lives as they reach a crossroads of the era’s political, artistic, social and sexual rebellions.

“Renee’s passion, clarity of character and deep emotion for this project immediately transported us to the late ’60s/early ’70s and created a resonance with us wanting to relive that energy,” Lifetime president and GM Nancy Dubuc said in a statement announcing the news Wednesday. “Cinnamon Girl is a game changer for our network and is exactly the type of show we want to deliver.”

Zellweger and Gavin O’Connor (Warrior) will executive produce, with the Bridget Jones actress co-writing the story alongside Tambakis, who will pen the script. O’Connor will direct with Danny Bramson (Jerry McGuire) serving as producer and music supervisor.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Nancy Dubuc and Rob Sharenow, who share our enthusiasm and creative intentions, and we believe the timing is perfect for Cinnamon Girl to have found a home at Lifetime during this transformative juncture at the network,” Zellweger said. “We’re really looking forward to making Cinnamon Girl come to life as part of their campaign to expand audience expectations and redefine what it means to be a Lifetime show.”

The period drama marks Zellweger’s second project with Lifetime. In 2008 she executive produced Living Proof, the true story of UCLA’s Dr. Dennis Slamon, who helped develop the breast cancer drug Herceptin.

Cinnamon also serves as the latest in a long line of high-profile projects for the cabler, which this week premiered its original movie Five, an anthology of short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people’s lives. Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and Alicia Keys were among the directors taking part.

The network is also developing a period drama revolving around The Hollywood Reporter founder William Wilkerson with Johnny Depp’s shingle Infinitum Nihil attached as well as a contemporary reboot of Steel Magnolias from Hairspray duo Neil Meron and Craig Zadan.

Zellweger refuses to gain weight for Bridget Jones 3

Renee Zellweger has given her consent to reprise the role of the hapless Bridget in the third installment of the rom-com series but says she will not put on weight to portray the character.

The 42-year-old actress, who received an Oscar nomination for her role in the Bridget series, is hesitant to add extra pounds because she is worried about the after effects, reported Daily Mail.

“I had a panic attack with all the specialists talking about how bad this is for you long-term, putting on that much weight in short periods of time,” she said.

Insiders say Zellweger is considering wearing a “fat suit” for the upcoming film.

Although it has not been confirmed that Hugh Grant and Colin Firth will return, Oscar winner Firth has revealed some plot earlier.

“I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on. So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant) for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?” he said.

Renee Zellweger the sexy singleton pulls a slinky pose out of her bag of tricks

Newly single Renee Zellweger certainly isn’t moping at home with a carton of ice-cream.

The 41-year-old actress appears in a sultry new advertisement after designing a handbag to raise money for charity.

It shows the Cold Mountain star in a cream and blue sweater with the tote over her shoulder as she crouched on the ground.

Zellweger collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger to design the accessory to raise money and awareness for the Breast Health Institute.

In another image, the Bridget Jones actress looks ethereal in a cream flowing dress. She sits on a chair cross-legged and dangles the bag against her bare feet.

The star has been in Milan, Italy, to help promote the charity and has looked the best she has looked in a long time in her choice of outfits including a red trench coat and a green strapless mini dress.

The light brown suede bag is made from natural, vegetable-tanned leather. It will retail for $425 with $140 from each sale going to the Fund For Living campaign.
The group is formed by an association to support women battling cancer and to also help cover their day to day expenses.

Zellweger said about the cause: ‘This is one of the best things about this initiative, and I love that Tommy Hilfiger has supported it for five years.’

‘It’s very real, very direct, helping women in their personal struggles, buying a wig or allowing them to hire a babysitter or to take a taxi when they don’t feel like they can ride the bus’, she added.
The cause is close to Renee’s heart because her grandmother died in 1969 after battling cancer.

She also had a cancer scare herself in 1996 and admitted that her reasons for support Breast Health Institute were extremely ‘selfish’ because friends and family members have suffered with the illness.

Having the opportunity to design her own bag and given Renee a taste of maybe becoming more creatively involved in fashion.
But when asked if she would ever release her own fragrance, like so many other celebrities, Zellweger said: ‘I haven’t really thought about it.’

However, she shared: ‘Occasionally, I have my dream shoe line in my head.’

The newly single star seems to be handling her break up well and has paraded round Italy like she has not a care in the world.

Renee split with her boyfriend Bradley Cooper last month after nearly two years together.

But she was all smiles as she strolled through JFK airport in New York earlier today having arrived back from Italy.

She was very dressed down and a world away from the glamorous past few days.

Deciding to stay comfortable in travel attire, she wore a blue patterned skirt, blue sweater and flat ballerina shoes.

Showing how down to earth she is, Renee pulled along to heavy suicases while toting another large bag and her new brown handbag.

The couple ended their two-year relationship earlier this month, reportedly because of Cooper’s commitment to his work.

And according to Us Magazine, the Bridget Jones actress was spotted collecting her things from the Pacific Palisades estate on Thursday afternoon.
